Archive for April, 2011

April showers David and me with blessings. Resurrection Sunday is yet to come and we are already blessed beyond what we expected. God continues to work in our lives as well as our friends and relatives. We praise God for bringing family members and friends into the Kingdom. He continues to listen to our prayers and is always at work all around us, revealing in His perfect timing, His blessed answers.

Passover celebrations remind us that God’s intricate plan for us has been in place since before creation. I love to listen to the account of Moses, the plagues, the passing over of the angel of death, and the crossing of the Red Sea. While all of this was happening, Yeshua’s deliverance for us was being played out. Throughout the evening we constantly made the connection between the Old Testament picture of deliverance and the New Testament report of our Lord’s resurrection. We celebrated communion as part of the Passover meal like the disciples did at the Last Supper. The Passover cup of redemption is the cup Yeshua identified as His blood, our redemption. Our congregation family worshipped in true Hebraic fashion with the blowing of the Shofar, the silver trumpets, singing, dancing and prayer.

David and I visited Christ Community Church in Roggen, Colorado, for Psalm Sunday services. We attend different churches from time to time because we love to be around believers. The Body of Christ is made up of many individuals and churches. We love them like family because we are brothers and sisters in Christ. Christ Community Church is a friendly Bible believing church and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. David and I were in separate Sunday school classes. Both of us reported blessings during the study. The service provided worship in special music and waving of psalm branches which lifted our spirits as we rejoiced singing “Hosanna” with the youth of the church.

On April 14, 2011, KPOF’s The Morning Show invited me for an interview. We talked about On Our Own in Jerusalem’s Old City. Denise, Roy and Gordy made the interview fun as I related stories about the time David and I spent in Jerusalem. We discussed the importance of the city of Jerusalem in ancient history, today, and in the future. I conveyed my love for the Jewish people and the Hebrew heritage shared by born-again Christians. It gave me great joy to share about all the research David did before we ventured to Israel and how all of it paid off. He knew secrets about tourist sites that few people get in on. I wish had more time so I could have shared about the secret garden on the Mount of Olives or the back entrance to the tomb in the Church of the Holy Sepulcher! Oh well, maybe I can do it next time!

The Morning Show promoted the book signing at Mardel’s Christian Bookstore on the following Saturday. That day was such a blessing. David came along and I invited Weymuth Reed to help out. We met a lot of nice people and had a lot of fun. Towards the end of our time there we held a drawing for an authentic widow’s mite that we purchased in Jerusalem. The story of the purchase is recounted in On Our Own in Jerusalem’s Old City.

Two weeks ago I had the honor of attending a His Writers retreat at Larkspur, Colorado. Cec Murphy led a group of 27 women and 3 men through a study on Knowing Myself, Knowing God, the title of his book. What a Spirit filled weekend it was as Cec took us through some revealing exercises, forcing us to analyze ourselves on a deep level. I released a burden that has been on my heart many years. I immediately felt a huge weight lifted off me. What an amazing breakthrough! Cec’s expression of life experience and level of commitment to the Lord blessed us and gave us a new level of dedication. In addition to the teaching and interaction by Cec the highlight of the retreat included the evening praise service when the leaders of His Writers anointed our fingers with oil and prayed over us. What an astounding weekend.

The fool says in his heart, “There is no God” (Psalm 14:1). God figured out atheists a long time ago. April Fool’s Day is dedicated to you. Father God looks down on earth to see if anyone understands or makes any attempt to seek Him. He sees you. He sees you arrogantly turned away from Him and that makes you rebellious. However, He is a gracious God, beyond what you or any human being can comprehend. He is a forgiving God and even though you turned your back on Him, He loves you. He will forgive you and He will take you under His wing of protection and providence. Are you beginning to wonder if He is real? If you are, gather up your courage and ask Him to reveal Himself to you. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be foolish. He made a way for you to have a relationship with Him through Jesus Christ. Jesus paid the debt for all of your sins. He gave us the Bible to help us understand who He is and why He did it. Accept the gift and be saved.  All heaven will rejoice in your return. You will have an unseen moment of fame greater than any you could possibly imagine here on earth. We are praying for you.
