The North Christian Church, Columbus, Indiana

The North Christian Church, Columbus, Indiana

“Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it” (1 Corinthians 12:27 NIV).

The body of Christ is not limited to certain church denominations or religions. Remember, Christ is not about religion. Each believer is a part of the body of Christ. He is about a personal relationship with Him. Any one who has accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior is a member of the body of Christ.

There are many members in the body of Christ and as stated above, each one of you is a part of it. That means you have a specific role in the body just as a church or denomination has a specific role. Your role is more than going to church and sitting in a pew each Sunday. Although, going to church is an important activity for any member of the body of Christ.

God has gifted you. Everyone has at least one gift. You should know what your gifts are; what things come naturally to you. If you don’t, find out what they are because He has given them to you for a reason.

God can use anything. If you have a gift for talking, then pray, study, and find out everything you can about Him and talk about it. If your gift is walking, then pray, study and find out everything you can about Him and walk it around the neighborhood. Jesus walked everywhere, and when He did, He spoke of the prophets and the days to come.

If your gift is criticizing, then pray, study, and realize that this gift is not from God. Ask God for the gift of encouragement and He will replace the devil’s gift with His. Pray and ask God how to use your particular gift. There is no finer, no more exciting adventure, than to be in the act of working for God.

He has allowed us to be His hands and feet here on Earth. This is a miracle; the God who created the universe trusts you enough to speak for Him.

Masada

Masada. The Hebrew word for fortress. The story is dramatic and moving. Once you’ve been there, you will never forget. However, just getting there can also be dramatic. There is a cable car. But to get into the correct mind set, you need to walk the two miles to the top. And you need to do it on a hot day. You need to feel the hot sun burning your back. You need to feel the sweat running down your face.

This is me walking up the snake path to Masada

The top of Masada is covered with ancient warehouses. In the picture below, the Dead Sea is in the distance.

King Herod built a three-tiered palace here. It’s the only place you get the cool breezes off the Dead Sea.

Halifax harbor is one of the cleanest, friendliest places to visit. On a warm sunny day we took a walk around the pier and checked out different places to eat.

The Lower Deck

The Lower Deck

The Lower Deck is situated just across from the ice cream shop (very convenient). They served my husband and I a delicious seafood dinner. The weather favored us, and we sat on the deck near the water. It was nice and warm in the sun, but when the sun went down it got chilly. We toughed it out because we were almost ready to leave anyway.

Earlier in the day we walked the pier. As you can see, there are many restaurants from which to choose.

Canada’s best ice cream was a great way to end a busy day of sightseeing!

Ipswich City Christian Church, Ipswich, Queensland, Australia

Ipswich City Christian Church, Ipswich, Queensland, Australia

“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body” (1 Corinthians 6:19,20 NIV).

You were bought at a price. What an understatement. The price Jesus paid began before His birth here on Earth. He knew before His birth that His very purpose for coming to Earth was to save us from sin. He was born in a stable. The conditions of His birth were humbling.

He was a toddler when Mary and Joseph took Him and fled to Egypt for safety. He was mocked as a child and called illegitimate. He endured bullying and disrespect in his hometown. Before He started His ministry here on Earth, He went to his cousin, John the Baptist. There He was baptized, and His Father in Heaven spoke. “You are my Son, Whom I love; with You I am well pleased.”

As soon as Jesus returned from the Jordan He submitted to forty days of temptation in the wilderness. All the time He had you in mind. He could have stopped any of it at any time, but He didn’t. He had you in mind and He knew what He had to do.

He overcame temptation and began His ministry after choosing twelve men to teach the ways of God. Then He took them with Him as He taught the masses, healed the sick and bound the brokenhearted.

Then He went through what we call Holy Week. It doesn’t seem very holy to me. He was betrayed. He was arrested on false charges in the middle of the night. He submitted to an illegal trial. He was beaten to an unrecognizable bloody pulp. Then they nailed Him to a cross. No, you are not your own. You were bought at a price. How valuable you are to Him! This is the miracle. And yes, you owe Him.

Steamboat Natchez

Steamboat Natchez

If you love history, the NATCHEZ will not disappoint! Steamboats take me back to a simpler time. Back to a time that taking a steamboat up the Mississippi was as common as taking a flight from New York to Los Angeles. Where ever I travel, I love to take a boat trip. If we are in Florida, David might book a cruise up the St. John’s River or on the Atlantic. When in Steamboat, Colorado, I can dine at one of several restaurants on the Yampa River or pontoon across Steamboat Lake.

When in New Orleans one must enjoy a cruise on the NATCHEZ. The live jazz band makes cruising on the Mississippi almost like watching a movie, only you are in it! Their most requested song is “When The Saints Go Marching In.”

As you can see, there are many options as to how to enjoy this amazing steamboat! She’s the ninth steamer to bear the name, NATCHEZ. It was her predecessor, NATCHEZ VII, that raced the ROBERT E. LEE in the most famous steamboat race of all time. She’s never been beaten at a race and she’s the best of her line.

When I went to Jerusalem the first time, I knew I had to go back. You see, I was on a bus tour and we spent less than two hours in the city. Ten years later I returned with my husband and we stayed within the ancient city walls for twenty-six days.

We had the most amazing experiences because we were there long enough to get to know the people. We also got to go the places the locals go, and to worship in churches, mosques, synagogues, and in the ancient places of worship. On Our Own in Jerusalem’s Old City was written in Jerusalem. In case you are planning a trip to Jerusalem, you should know that the book has been used as a travel guide because it tells you ‘the rest of the story’ about cites the tour guide takes you to visit.

If you’ve never been to Jerusalem, come join us. You will feel like you are standing on the Temple Mount with us, or praying at the Western Wall with us, or having dinner in an ancient building in the center of the old city.
