palmsunday
Lord, we praise You
Today is the day we celebrate Your Son’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem.
Lord, we praise You.
On that day crowds spread palm branches before the Kings of Kings. Today we lay our grateful hearts before You.
Lord, we praise You.
The whole earth is filled with awe at Your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, You call forth songs of joy.
Lord, we praise You.
You care for the land and water it; You enrich it abundantly.
Lord, we praise You.
You crown the year with Your bounty, and our carts overflow with abundance.
Lord, we praise You.
The grasslands of the prairies overflow, the hills are clothed with gladness.
Lord, we praise You.
The spring flowers burst forth throughout the land, cheering our hearts and proclaiming Your glory, they shout for joy and sing!
Lord, we praise You.
May all the earth shout praises to You as we prepare for Your return. May every tree raise its branches to praise You. May every wave of the roaring seas praise You. May every plant and blade of grass stretch toward Heaven to praise You. May every living soul praise You. May the Rocky Mountains cry out to join our praises to You, King of Kings, Lord of Lords.
Lord, we praise You.
Hosanna! Hosanna! Come quickly, Lord Jesus, Amen.

First African Baptist Church of Savannah, Georgia

First African Baptist Church of Savannah, Georgia

“Now if we are children, then we are heirs — heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in His sufferings in order that we may also share in His glory” (Romans 8:17 NIV).

Can you imagine what a child of God inherits? As a child I could only think of all the riches I was going to inherit. I could have my very own room, my very own house, my very own town! The kids at school wouldn’t make fun of me any more because I would be super rich!

Then I found out all of it was going to burn to ashes in the end times. So what will be left? Money and iPhones won’t matter. Our inheritance will be so much greater. We get new bodies. We get power. We will see things clearly and finally understand. We will sing with the angels. And much, much more.

As Christians in the United States today, we are suffering on several different levels. In recent years corporations have made it against policy for an employee to discuss religion. It seems this is directed more at Christians than other religions because one could lose their job for mentioning Jesus. Rather than having the freedom to speak about our Lord, we are threatened if we do.

Teachers are not allowed to pray in our schools. We are not allowed to pray at government functions, and I heard that the military has told Chaplains that they could not pray in Jesus’ name. We endure this persecution, knowing that one day we will be glorified with our Lord and King, Jesus Christ. The miracle is that we can share in everything Jesus will inherit.

Jerash, Jordan

The Cardo

Jerash is the best preserved city of the Decapolis. After Petra, it is the most popular tourist site in Jordan. I’ve walked the Cardo and marveled at the Roman remains. Byzantine art and mosaics along with the incredible architecture make for an amazing look at the genius of past generations.

Church on a cruise with Don and Wendy Francisco

Church on a cruise with Don and Wendy Francisco

“For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father.’ The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God” (Romans 8:15-16 NKJV).

In the Hebrew ‘Abba’ is the expression of a very close relationship. It’s as close as a little child crying out to his father saying, “Daddy!” It’s the word Jesus used when He prayed to His Father in Heaven. And Jesus had the right to call God, Abba, because He trusted His Father. Here’s the amazing miracle.

Instead of human beings needing to fear a just God for all of our lives, He found a way to reach down and adopt us through our faith in Christ. This is what I leaned on as a child from a poor family, living what could have been a very sad life. At times I reveled in my position as a child of God. I had been taught that I was loved as much as John, Paul, or any of the apostles. My spirit would soar with happiness as I looked at the blue sky and imagined my Heavenly Father looking down on me with love and approval in His eyes.

“Ah,” you might say, “the innocence of a child.” However, even today I find the knowledge of His Fatherhood very comforting. Many times I have cried out to Him, Abba, Father! Instantly I feel His presence. Being an adult certainly does not exempt you from being adopted by God. My husband was adopted as an adult. God’s in the business of adopting all ages, colors, and sizes of people. He’s got enough love for all of us. And the very best part of being adopted by God is that He has no special favorites. Every one of His children are favored.

The miracle here is that, by the Holy Spirit, we can have that same intimate relationship with God that Jesus had with Him. And just like Jesus, we can have it for eternity!

Driving on the Beach

Daytona Beach

Daytona Beach

When it snows in Denver I take myself to Daytona Beach. There’s a hundred things I love about Daytona Beach, but one of the top ones is being able to drive on the beach. It’s call the “World’s Most Famous Beach” because of its twenty-three miles of wide, hard-packed sand. The first automobile and motorcycle races were held there in 1902.

Driving on the beach

Driving on the beach

Beach driving is one of the most popular activities beach goers have come to enjoy as part of their Daytona Beach vacation. Take a scenic ride or put your car in park and enjoy a beach day with everything you could possibly need near at hand. You can rent a dune buggy or bicycle on the beach as well. The white sandy beaches are perfect for an early morning peddle, a relaxing afternoon cruise, or a romantic ride at dusk before a night on the town.

Beach driving is a selective activity that can only be enjoyed in a few areas around the United States and in Florida is limited to the spectacular beaches in the Daytona Beach and New Smyrna Beach areas on Florida’s East Coast. Beach access points can be found along Florida’s Atlantic Highway, otherwise known as A1A, in the heart of Daytona Beach.

You’ll be happy to know that professional race drivers stick to the track at the ‘World Center of Racing’, Daytona International Speedway. Click here for more information about Daytona Beach!
